Larissa Bonfante

This workshop is dedicated to the memory of Larissa Bonfante. An alumna of Columbia University and long-time professor at New York University, she helped establish the field of Etruscology in the United States and focused on the visual-material world of ancient Italy.  Her intellectual pursuits spoke precisely to the questions we explore, and across her scholarship, she embraced a wide-ranging perspective that carefully considered how any one part of the Italic landscape could be entangled with so many others, especially with the eventual Roman presence.  Her spirit of generous, inquisitive criticality lies at the heart of our work.

A tribute to Larissa by Jean MacIntosh Turfa can be found here.
